Extra Reading: The Dead Mother

This cottage is the perfect setting for a Russian ghost story.

The Dead Mother:

- in a little village, a husband and wife have a baby

- the wife died shortly after the baby was born :(

- the husband hired a old woman to look after the baby but she had some trouble

- all day long the baby would cry and wouldn't take any food

- during the night, though, the baby was very quiet

- the old lady stayed up one night to see why the baby was sleeping so soundly

- they saw the dead mom walk in the room and breast feed the baby

- they turned on a light, and the mom left the room but the baby was dead

This story was interesting because there was no clear plot. It just ends with the baby dying, which is pretty sad. But it was definitely an interesting premise. I chose to read this story for extra credit because I read a story on someone's blog that was based on this. I really liked the story they wrote, so I decided to go read the original story! The story they wrote was pretty different - but reading the original definitely helped me understand their story more. I'm glad that somebody turned it into such an interesting story!
