Wikipedia Trail: From the Dyatlov Pass to Tom Slick
Article 1: "Dyatlov Pass Incident"
I started with this article about a semi-unsolved mystery about what happened to 9 Russian hikers who died in a strange incident. I was reading about it because another student in this class is writing their Storybook about this topic, and I thought it was super interesting!
Article 2: "Yeti"
One of the theories about how the Russian hikers died is that Yeti attacked them. While there is little evidence for this theory, I was curious to see what the Yeti page had to say. There was a lot more to the legends around Yeti than I had realized, and apparently the US government even sent an expedition looking for it in the 50s.

Article 3: "Pangboche Hand"
The Yeti article contained a little story about this Yeti artifact. It looks just like a skeleton hand, but it is believed to be from a Yeti and is kept in a Buddhist monastary in the Himalayas. Apparently actor Jimmy Stewart - yes, George Bailey from It's A Wonderful Life - smuggled it to England in his luggage for the purpose of scientific study. The tests ran at the time said it was "near human."
Article 4: "Tom Slick"
Tom Slick was a Texas oil heir and cryptozoologist. He went on many expeditions in his life searching for animals like the Loch Ness Monster and the Yeti. He was a part of the mission where Jimmy Stewart snuck the Pangboche Hand to England.
