Week 6: Reading B: Ramayana

 The War with Ravana:

This story was very interesting for me to read - I think I would like to see a movie version of the Ramayama because there would be some very interesting scenes.

- Rama needs to cross over the ocean pass but is unable to, and the God of the Ocean comes out to tell Rama who to go to to build a bridge

- they build the bridge and begin to cross it and go to war

-there are lots of giant apes that are bright colors and lots of other animals in the armies as well

- the apes use trees for bats and clubs because they're so big

- someone is using a big serpent as a noose, and then someone else sends in a big celestial bird to kill the serpent

- Rama was losing the battle, so they woke up a big demon guy (Kumbhakarna) who had been sentenced to sleep for six month intervals and only be awake for one day in between

- Kumbhakarna was like Gandalf and the Riders of Rohan at the Battle of Helms Deep and totally demolished the other army when it seemed like all hope was lost
