 The Quarrel of Cat and Dog

I'd never heard this story before, but I thought it was very cute. Essentially it is a "just so" stories, which I usually find very clever. There are lots of stories in Genesis that are "just so" stories - stories that are supposed to answer questions like, where did rainbows come from? Why do snakes have no legs? Or in this case, why do cats and dogs fight? 

- the Cat and Dog are best friends, literally soul mates

- the Cat says they need to separate so that they can find more food for themselves

- the Cat really wants to break up with the Dog for some reason, but the Dog is sad to leave the Cat. The Cat makes the Dogs swear an oath that they will never cross paths again.

- the Cat goes to live with Adam, and eventually the Dog joins her (after trying to live with a Wolf and a Monkey with little luck)

- the Cat is super mad at the Dog who tries to befriend her, eventually the Dog has to go live somewhere else because the Cat refuses to get along

I felt pretty bad for the Dog after reading this story. He just wanted a friend. The story doesn't explain why the Cat suddenly started hating her best friend. Maybe he did something? Or maybe she never liked him to begin with.
